Outlook Hotmail Connector and HTTPS support

With the new version of the Outlook Hotmail Connector we see a common returning question;

Does this version of the Outlook Hotmail Connector support HTTPS and if not, when will this be added?

Update: HTTPS support has now been added to Outlook Hotmail Connector starting with built number 14.0.6106.5001. For details see; New Outlook Hotmail Connector with HTTPS support!

The current version of the Outlook Hotmail Connector (version 14.2 with built number 14.0.5139.5001) doesn’t support the HTTPS protocol. The Outlook Team is aware of this issue and support for it is scheduled for a later release of the Outlook Hotmail Connector. No public ETA has been announced for that yet though.
