I have a couple of old pst-file archives which I don’t keep actively connected to Outlook as I don’t use them on a daily basis. On occassion I still need to access one of them and I connect it to Outlook via;
File-> Open-> Outlook Data File…

If I then want to do a search within the archive, the results are always incomplete as the archive has not been indexed yet.

Is there any way I can search within the archive directly?

When I start Outlook, suddenly my monitor switches to a lower resolution, pretty much all the color is gone and gives the window a “classic” look. Closing Outlook returns everything back to normal again.

What’s happening and how can I prevent this from happening?
