Don’t convert drive path to UNC path

When inserting a link to a file on a mapped network share, the link is automatically converted to a UNC path. So a link that used to be;
H:\filename.txt
turns to;
\\servername\username\filename.txt

In the above example the H:\-drive is the user’s home drive and the UNC path now points to the home location of the sender instead of the receiver.

This is causing us some issues as we often place personal report files on the user’s home drive and then send them an email with a link to notify them of this. Our Human Resource department for instance does this in bulk and sends out a standardized email to all of the users at once with the H:\-drive reference.

Is there a way to configure Outlook that the drive path reference to the mapped network share is kept and that it won’t be converted to a UNC path?

Exclude account from receiving (send only account)

I’ve got several POP3 accounts configured in Outlook. One account I only use for sending (someone else monitors the incoming messages and forwards it to the correct person and we reply with the general company account).

How can I tell Outlook not to include this account when receiving?

Ignore stationery fonts

There was an option to ignore stationery fonts in the older versions of Outlook via;
Tools-> Options…-> tab Mail Format-> button Fonts…

This dialog seems to be removed in Outlook 2007 and Outlook 2010.

Is there still any way to set this option?

Unread mail count on logon screen is wrong

I see an Unread Mail count on the logon screen of WIndows XP. This would be handy if it would indeed display the correct amount of unread items.

Is there a way I can correct this count or can I simply disable it otherwise?

View today’s RSS feeds only

Sometimes it is hard to keep up with all the news I receive from all my RSS feeds (I’ve got quite a few subscriptions). I find myself cycling through all the folders to see if there is something new in there.

The blue Unread Items notification is not of much help as I don’t read all the entries of each and every RSS feed.

Is there a way I can for instance just see today’s RSS items that I haven’t read?
